Boma's kpop chat #6: Review of "I Miss You" starring Yoon Eun Hye & Park Yoochun (Pt 1)

This review contains spoilers so stay away if you haven't watched it yet. I've only watched till Episode 13 and I believe there are 7 more episodes to go which have not yet been uploaded on Dramabeans. I can't wait any longer so I'm going to post a preliminary review based on what I've watched so far.

Synopsis
15-year-old Soo-Yeon (Kim So-Hyun) is a victim of bullying at school. They target her, because her father is a murderer. Soo-Yeon has an ally in Jung-Woo (Yeo Jin-Ku), who always protects her from the bullies. Soo-Yeon and Jung-Woo are in love, but due to an unexpected accident they become separated. Now as adults they meet again through destiny.

Jung-Woo (Park Yoo-Chun) is now a detective and his first love has always remained in the back of his mind. Soo-Yeon (Yoon Eun-Hye) is now a rookie fashion designer who tries to have a bright personality, but still carries emotional scars inside of her. Hyung-Joon (Yoo Seung-Ho) is Soo-Yeon's lover, who appears warm and nice, but he will try to take vengeance upon Jung-Woo.

Dang, I don't know what I was thinking watching something so sad over the holiday season. This is sadc sad, sad so get ready for a good cry while watching this. There's so much tragedy in this: first of all, Hyung-Joon is separated from his mother, then Jung-Woo and Soo Yeon get kidnapped and torn from each other and Detective Kim dies. Then we get to watch as Jung-Woo and his family (Soo Yeon's family) lives through all the heart break. Only for Soo Yeon (Zoey) to be back in the picture but not really? What the hell, writers?

Also, Yoo Seung-ho aka Harry the psychopath is 19. What an amazing actor! I'll definitely miss seeing him on my TV laptop screen for 2 years when he enlists in the military next year. A huge props to kid SY (Kim So-Hyun) and JW (Yeo Jin-Goo) for their awesome acting and adorable cuteness. Many awwws were said :)

"Bawl your eyes out" scenes
Who remembers the episode where Soo Yeon comes to visit her mom in her restaurant just for her mum to tell her that she loves Jung-Woo more? Or earlier when Soo-Yeon's mum visits her at home but Soo-Yeon tells her that she prefers her new identity as Zoey and her mum tells her to continue living her new life. Heart break </3

In Episode 13, the scene where HW tells SY that he wouldn't mind just being friends with her because that would mean he continues to see her :(((

Btw,why is Zoey acting all weak all of a sudden? What happened to that fierce chick who slapped that woman who was running her mouth a few episodes ago? I hope the next 2 episodes provides some much needed character development to Zoey.

Fashion
Huge props to the stylists in this drama, the leading ladies were looking on point!! Yoon Eun Hye got me thinking of buying some oversize coats! I wouldn't mind her lipstick collection as well.

Rating:
So far 7/10 because of the awesome acting, the suspense, the twists and turns, and good chemistry between the leads. But like many other kdramas, we get stuck watching flashbacks, fillers and a cheesy love triangle. I hope the ending doesn't ruin it for me because I will really be mad.
