Tuesday Tips: What not to flush down the toilet

Ever wondered if you can flush down particular bathroom items down the toilet? Well, this post should sort a few things out. Many items that are labelled flushable are not exactly degradable like toilet paper, and these may end up clogging pipes, and creating messy sewer systems for your home, business, etc. Basically, all you should be flushing is toilet paper and human waste.

What not to flush:

Diapers (cloth, disposable, "flushable")

Facial tissues

Baby wipes, disinfectant wipes, moist wipes, etc.

Toilet bowl scrub pads

Swiffers

Paper towels

Dental floss

Hair

Sanitary napkins, tampons, condoms, or any non-organic material

Vitamins, medicines or other pharmaceuticals

Wash cloths, towels, rags (any cloth item)

Clothing

Sheet plastic, or plastic of any kind
