Welcome To Pearlle Magazine. Africa, K-Pop, And Everything In Between.

Reminiscing Mondays: How many ways can you cook rice?

Boma is going on a "rice challenge". She loves rice so much that she's going to prove that there are numerous ways to cook rice making rice the most versatile dish ever! Or at least a more versatile dish than most popular staples out there.

It's not a stereotype - West African's love rice. Imagine a party without some proper jollof rice. Impossican't. We're probably only even half way done in the number of ways to eat rice. Rice and dodo, rice and egusi soup (does anyone else do this?). There's also masa which is made out of rice. This week's Reminiscing post features some delicious rice dishes with inspiration from 9jafoodie.

How does one go about explaining jollof rice? So easy but so good.

Chicken Suya On Rice
If you're Nigerian, then you know that suya is the business. Suya + rice = perfection
Here's another win for Boma - she loves fish and she also loves curry. Here's another fish curry recipe.

Coconut Rice
Probably Boma's favorite rice dish

Rice and stew
We don't have a rice and stew recipe cos that's too "basic". However here's a tomato meat sauce that you could substitute for stew or use with rice and beans.

Ayamase (Ofada Stew/Sauce)
We did a quick survey and no one here at Pearlle has tried ayamase before. It looks really good.

Beef fried rice
Good stuff! Yes o.

Senegalese jollofIt's similar to the jollof rice listed above but the Senegalese version is not a reddish color as it is not cooked with tomatoes.
