Welcome To Pearlle Magazine. Africa, K-Pop, And Everything In Between.

A few quotes to inspire and uplift you (part 1)

I was recently "stuck" (I volunteered) in Victoria International Airport (YYJ) for over 10 hours over 2 days welcoming new University of Victoria international students. The first day I was there, I had no phone/computer and was incredibly bored. I'm glad I brought a couple of books to read, but there's only so much reading I could do before boredom struck again.

I flipped through pages of the University of Victoria Students' Society (UVSS), which is one of the things new students are given in their goodie bag. I noticed something I thought was really cool: the top left corner of each page had some quotes made by various inspirational people. I wanted to share some of the quotes that resonated with me with you all today:

If you only have one smile left in you, give it to the people you love - Maya Angelou

Friendship is a single soul dwelling in two bodies - Aristotle

Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is to not stop questioning - Einstein

Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck - Dalai Lama

If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude - Maya Angelou

Great acts are made up of small deeds - Lao Tzu

Always be a first rate version of yourself - Audrey Hepburn

Don't learn to do, but learn in doing - Samuel Butler

It is more important to know where you're going than to get there quickly - Mabel Newcomber

What you think of yourself is much more important than what others think of you - Seneca

If you don't care, why should they - Jacquelynn Reaves

Whatever is worth doing at all is worth doing well - Lord Chesterfield

Everyone has beauty but not everyone sees it - Confucius

Yesterday is not ours to recover, but tomorrow is ours to win or lose - Samuel Johnson

Life is like a play: it's not the length but the excellence of the acting that matters - Seneca

How wonderful is it that nobody needs to wait a single moment before starting to improve the world - Anne Frank
