We lived in Botswana for a few years and we had a blast attending school there. The popular means of transport was combi's and many of these would transport students to school before 7am in the morning and back from school when it's over. These combis would blast really loud music, mostly South African hits during peak school hours.
When I say loud, I mean loud enough to feel like your heart is jumping out of your chest. The first few weeks I had to take combis to school, I thought I was going to become deaf. But I really started to enjoy it, and I can tell you that there is not much that can get you really pumped for school at 6:30am than loud music. Here are a few of my favorite songs from my time in Botswana (2007-2010).
DJ Sbu - Remember When it Rained
Gangs of Instrumentals - My Number One
Tuks Seganga - Monate twaa
Mafikizolo - O Tswa Kae
I could list more but I'll stop here. However artists like DJ Cleo, Malaika, Jozi, Freshlyground and Rhythmic Elements deserve a shoutout for keeping me entertained. Living in Botswana was a lot of fun and I definitely miss it sometimes.
