You need to wear sunscreen

Hello people!!

Today I'm talking about a kinda controversial one in Nigeria. SUNSCREEN! Everyone needs sunscreen, and you should wear it everyday. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, even on a cloudy day, 80 percent of the sun's UV rays can pass through the clouds.

I can't imagine living in Nigeria without sunscreen. The sun is so hot, and all I can think about is UV rays. A popular fad I've heard is that using sunscreen will make you darker. No way! Thing is, sunscreen does not prevent tanning of skin, it just prevents exposure of your skin to UV rays which cause early age skin aging, sunburn and skin cancer.

If you have freckles, dark spots, or age spots, wearing sunscreen will help prevent these spots from getting darker.

Many users have complained that a sunscreen with a higher SPF number tends to result in ashy looking skin. You need to be wearing at least SPF 15.

It is true that black people are less susceptible to skin cancer due to the melanin in our skin, but this does not mean we are immune to skin cancer. Seriously people, wearing sunscreen isn't going to hurt. You're doing good to your skin by wearing sunscreen, I can tell you that.

Some good brands of sunscreens include Neutrogena, Mary Kay & Olay to name a few.

How to:
Apply sunscreen 15 minutes before going out and before your makeup routine

In Abuja, some places you can buy sunscreen include:
Perfect Trust Cosmetics, Shop 7, ASG Shopping Complex, Area II, Wuse, Abuja

In Lagos:
Goldtwinkles in the Barcelos Mall, Ikeja GRA

For people in other parts of Nigeria, major cosmetic scores carry various brands of sunscreen.
